Federal Legislation Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1994
Title I, Subchapter XII-J of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 3796 ii et. seq. authorizes the Attorney General to make grants to States, State courts, local courts, units of local government, and Indian tribal governments to establish drug courts in response to increased numbers of nonviolent, substance-abusing adult and juvenile offenders who contribute to the pervasive problems of prison and jail overcrowding and the high recidivism rate of those offenders. This act provides funding to drug courts, including those for (1) juvenile offenders; (2) parents of children who are detained by or dependents of the juvenile court; (3) parents of children in family law cases involving custody and visitation issues; (4) criminal offenders; and (5) other drug court systems approved by the Drug Court Partnership Executive Steering Committee.
Florida House Bill 175
This bill authorizes a court to order individuals involved in a dependency case to be evaluated for drug or alcohol problems, and allows the court, after a finding of dependency, to require an individual to participate in and comply with treatment-based drug court programs.
Florida House Bill 199

Part 5 of this Act provides for a court to be designated a drugs court and confers certain powers upon a judge when sitting as a drugs court.
New South Wales, Australia Drug Court Amendment Act of 1998
The objects of this Act are to reduce the drug dependency of eligible convicted offenders, promote the re-integration of such drug dependent persons into the community, and to reduce the need for such drug dependent persons to resort to criminal activity to support their drug dependencies by allowing courts to refer persons to the drug court program.
New South Wales, Australia Drug Court Amendment Act 2002 No 93
This act amends the Drug Court Act 1998, making further provisions with respect to participation in drug programs, the termination of drug programs, sentencing and the accommodation of participants.
United Nations Drug Control and Crime Prevention Model Drug Court (Treatment and Rehabilitation of Offenders) Bill, 2000
The object of this Bill is to provide for the diversion of certain drug offenders from imprisonment or other traditional criminal justice outcome to court directed treatment and rehabilitation programs, aimed at reducing and eliminating their criminal activity.
Victoria, Australia Sentencing (Amendment) Act of 2002
This act amends the Sentencing Act of 1991 to provide for a drug treatment order as a new sentencing order; amends the Magistrates' Court Act 1989 to establish a Drug Court Division of the Magistrates' Court; and amends the Corrections Act 1986 with respect to the custody of a person subject to a drug treatment order.
