Abstract: The report first outlines the content of various Bureau of Justice Statistics reports on issues related to drugs and crime, followed by descriptions of various sources for drug data. Data on drug use by offenders at the time of offense are drawn from the National Crime Victimization Survey and corrections surveys. Data from surveys on prior drug use by offenders are also reported, along with tabular data and narrative information on drug-related crime. Federal drug-control budget amounts are shown for fiscal years 1981-94, along with the amount requested for fiscal year 1995. Data on drug-related arrests for the sale/manufacture and possession of drugs are shown for each year from 1984 through 1993. Other data and information pertain to drug enforcement operations, the pretrial release of drug defendants, prosecution and sentencing of drug-law violators, drug enforcement in correctional facilities, drug offenders in correctional populations, recidivism of drug-law violators, juvenile drug use, inmate gang involvement, drug use in the general population, and public opinion about drugs. Information is provided on the Drugs and Crime Clearinghouse of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Extensive tables and source notes
