This video and transcript of an interview with Edward Latessa of the University of Cincinnati at the 2011 NIJ Conference focuses on the features and benefits of the website crimesolutions.gov, which will report on "what works" in criminal justice, juvenile justice, and crime victim services.

Abstract

The rationale for the website is that policymakers and practitioners are always searching for proven effective policies and practices that have been tried and tested as a means to achieve valued objectives and benefits. The website will collect and present such information in a systematic and user-friendly format. The website is currently in its infancy, as it is reviewing individual studies across topic areas that include corrections, crime prevention, policing, and other areas of criminal justice practice. The aim is to compile information that will assist users in reviewing the body of knowledge in a given area.
