This guide is designed to help communities and victim assistance providers promote awareness of crime victim issues.

Abstract

This guide includes educational content, campaign materials, artwork, a theme video, a wide array of user-friendly out-reach tools, current statistics on victimization, information on the history of victims' rights in the United States, and concrete, practical ideas on how any community can help meet new challenges and find new solutions. Section 1 provides a resource guide overview; Section 2 discusses developing a campaign, and provides information on developing partnerships as well as strategies; Section 3 explains the resource guide artwork, and provides a new tutorial on making your own QR (or Quick Response) code and updated PowerPoint slide artwork; Section 4 describes how to communicate the right message and provides media tips and tools, including basics on how to create a social media campaign along with three pre-produced television public service announcements; Section 5 provides an historical overview of landmarks in crime victims' rights and services in America; Section 6 provides statistical overviews (brief summaries of current crime statistics; and section 7 provides additional online resources.
