Abstract: The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, provides information and funding to State, local, and tribal governments to develop and implement crime-fighting strategies. This factsheet provides a brief description of the various services and programs available from BJA. Programs and initiatives that provide funding for communities include Justice Assistance Grants, the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation, the Justice Reinvestment Initiative, and the Smart Policing Initiative. A full listing of funding opportunities can be found at www.BJA.gov. The factsheet also provides a brief description of BJA’s NTTAC (National Training and Technical Assistance Center) and opportunities for becoming a NTTAC provider and a peer reviewer for BJA.
