December 2009
Document Summary

This biennial report to Congress (NCJ 226030) outlines the activities and accomplishments of the Office for Victims of Crime during Fiscal Years 2007 and 2008. Each section summarizes victims’ needs in a particular area, such as terrorism, identity theft, or domestic violence, and illustrates how funding from OVC makes a crucial difference in the lives of crime victims. In addition to administering the Crime Victims Fund, which channels funds for victim compensation and assistance throughout the United States, OVC raises awareness about victims’ issues, promotes compliance with victims’ rights laws, and provides training and technical assistance to service providers and victim assistance professionals.
